Reddam House
Reddam House
LPA is proud to have delivered a comprehensive lighting solution for the newly refurbished Reddam House School. This ambitious project involved transforming a 12-level commercial building into a state-of-the-art private school, including four basement levels and eight floors dedicated to classrooms, sports halls, an auditorium, science labs, music rooms, two libraries, a canteen, offices, internal and external play areas, a gym, balconies, staircases, and bathrooms.
The project required seamless collaboration between LPA, Belvia, AJC (architect), NDY (services consultant), Built (builder), and a heritage consultant to ensure the lighting met aesthetic, functional, and budgetary requirements. LPA’s involvement extended beyond product supply, encompassing lighting consulting, design, engineering, lux calculations, lux testing, and onsite collaboration to refine the final solution.
Belvia, engaged by Built, was responsible for all electrical, communications, and infrastructure works. Together, the project team coordinated conceptual drawings and designs to develop a complete and compliant lighting package that aligned with project goals.
LPA provided a tailored lighting solution that addressed the diverse needs of the school. Custom circular suspended and linear fixtures were installed in classrooms to complement modern interiors while ensuring optimal brightness and uniform illumination. Surface-mounted can lights were used in hallways for a clean and consistent lighting approach. The auditorium was equipped with Zenith highbays, offering high-performance illumination suitable for large gatherings. Maya surface-mounted fittings were selected for stairways to enhance safety with well-distributed light. In the car parking areas, durable and energy-efficient weatherproof battens were installed.
The project posed several challenges, including meeting BCA compliance for external areas in the densely built-up North Sydney region, adhering to a compressed project timeline, and coordinating deliveries to align with the phased construction schedule. Additionally, careful product selection was required to balance compliance, aesthetics, function, and budget constraints.
Despite these challenges, LPA successfully delivered a high-quality, fully integrated lighting solution within the tight timeframe. By working closely with all stakeholders and maintaining a flexible, solutions-focused approach, we ensured a smooth installation process and a lighting outcome that enhances the learning environment. The successful completion of Reddam House School stands as a testament to LPA’s expertise in delivering tailored lighting solutions for complex educational developments.
