This year marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in LPA Energy Group’s history. After two years of working from home during the global pandemic, the LPA team were able to celebrate our move back into the newly refurbished state-of-the-art headquarters office in Melbourne, Australia.
The new office concept incorporates sustainable practices and materials into the design to create a healthier and efficient workplace encouraging collaboration and productivity. Over the last few years, we have experienced substantial growth within our business by expanding our team, business units, service offerings and product range. As we continue to grow, this new office will unite the Victorian LPA Lighting & Energy Solutions and WideSky team under one building.
Our amazing team designed and managed this project from conception through to completion. The office was designed to bring in more natural lighting to flow throughout the space. We reconfigured the layout to be more functional by extending the mezzanine into a full second floor with an open-plan design. Large floor-to-ceiling windows were installed to reduce our usage of artificial lighting.
We implemented a lighting control system and our WideSky platform to monitor our energy usage. This included monitoring our HVAC, lighting, server, water heater, Co2 emissions, water usage, thermal comfort levels and people sensing.
We selected lighting with the best efficacy to conserve energy usage. The lighting was an opportunity to showcase our versatile range of fittings. We supported our distributor partners by using Lightnet and Unilamp for several of our light fixtures in the space. A feature Ringo Star Cluster creates a statement piece at the entrance of the office. The main corridor leading into the office spaces features Lightnet’s Matric and Midpin series in both pendant and track formats.
To ensure staff well-being in the workplace, we opted to use the Matric T2 as task lighting over each individual desk. Task lighting is an ideal solution to reducing energy consumption and allows the staff to control the amount of light used to suit their personal preference enhancing individual wellbeing.
Cork flooring was used throughout the office as an environmentally sustainable, non-toxic and healthy solution. As a long-term renewable resource, it decreases noise level which reduces stress and poor concentration in a work environment. Cork is anti-microbial and naturally resistant to mould, mildew and termites. It doesn’t off-gas or shed microfibers to negatively impact indoor air quality allowing for a healthier workspace. The manufacturing process also aligns with our sustainability commitment as it generates almost no waste.
We worked to ensure any new equipment and hardware for the office has a high energy star rating to reduce consumption. We reused desks and chairs from our previous Melbourne and Sydney offices as a way to reduce the waste generated from the office refurbishment. We are excited to share our new office and look forward to welcoming back our partners and clients to celebrate with our team.
