Effective pharmacy lighting is essential for enhancing visibility and accuracy, ensuring pharmacists read prescriptions and medication labels correctly, thereby improving patient safety. It creates a welcoming and professional atmosphere, increasing customer satisfaction and trust, and helps customers locate products easily. Adequate lighting reduces staff eye strain and fatigue, boosting productivity, and maintains a safe environment by reducing accidents and deterring theft. Compliance with lighting standards is crucial for regulatory adherence. Additionally, good lighting highlights products and promotions, increasing sales. Overall, it positively impacts the mood and well-being of customers and staff, creating a pleasant and efficient environment. The lighting within a space is critical to ensure a safe and productive work environment. This is especially important when designing lighting for hospitals, and specifically the pharmacies within them.

LPA was engaged by Red Design Group and Australian Pharmaceutical Industries – Wesfarmers health for API flagship Priceline pharmacy new concept store. Aiming to transition from the conventional pharmacy model while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and friendly health and wellness advice. Partnering with Red Design Group and the project team from API, LPA created a new pharmacy layout that allows Priceline pharmacists to engage closely with customers. The implementation of automated dispensing systems has freed up the store team to spend more time interacting with customers. The new design features a Health Hub, offering a growing range of services, from vaccinations and health checks to consultations for various health conditions. LPA has been collaborating closely with API on their Priceline pharmacy and Priceline stores over the past few years.

The updated design is sleek, contemporary, and inviting, reflecting Priceline’s brand identity and highlighting its strong focus on cosmetics and healthcare. Departing from the traditional model, LPA and Red Design Group have developed an engaging environment with a fresh design that prominently includes a Health Hub. Here, customers can access a growing range of services, from vaccinations and health checks to consultations for various health conditions. This innovative approach contrasts sharply with the old model where pharmacists stood behind high counters, providing a less-than-ideal customer experience. This design represents a true departure from tradition, positioning the store at the cutting edge of modern healthcare.

LPA transformed the store through strategic lighting design, creating four distinct zones: beauty, health, wellness, and dispensing, while introducing a new Health Hub. By using specialised lighting and zoning techniques, LPA effectively defined each area, enhancing the customer experience. Retail zones were clearly delineated with targeted lighting, and RGB strip lighting matched the brand colours, reinforcing brand identity. This thoughtful lighting design not only improved the store’s aesthetics but also facilitated easier navigation and a more engaging shopping environment, showcasing LPA’s expertise in lighting solutions.
