73 Miller Street
73 Miller Street
Located on a busy intersection in North Sydney’s business district, 73 Miller Street is a 13-storey A-Grade commercial building embracing sustainability and staff well-being. The 1980s office building was completely renovated to a contemporary design with a breathtaking view of the harbour and the city. A number of priorities were identified for the new office design including its environmental performance, employee wellness, accessibility and adaptability. These factors secured the building a 5-Star Green Star and 5-Star NABERS energy rating.
Together with the team at Buildcorp & Class Electrical, we provided light fixtures and lighting calculations for all base building office levels (future and current fitout), the lobby, internal common areas, bathrooms, corridors and the end-of-trip facility at 73 Miller Street.
LPA worked with Lightnet to supply 180 unique lengths of custom-specified IP65-rated conduit connection to suit a custom-made IP54 Matric A3 linear profile system (made specifically for this project) for the lobby area. An extensive compliance process was conducted involving local and international testing that made up 91 completed lengths. Each one of the 180 lengths of linear had an individual label specifying whether it was a left or right cable entry, the wattage, the floor allocation, the exact location on each level and the order of assembly to make the complete length. We packed, delivered and labelled the profiles per level to ensure a smooth transition when they went to the site for installation. All drivers were then specified and supplied locally to reduce production time due to stock delays globally during the pandemic.
In the external areas, we used 100 metres of high-grade IP68 neon flex around the bench areas, balustrades, planters, and cove details in the lobby. These provided modern accent lighting helping to emphasize the main architectural features of the building.
Another custom solution for this project was the custom-designed external spotlight arms to suit Landa’s Lyras fittings. These were designed by LPA and manufactured by DynaBuilt to illuminate the external green wall from above (avoiding the green wall foliage).
LPA is proud to be involved with delivering an office building that puts sustainability and its people at the forefront. The result delivers a visually striking lighting concept that matches the client’s vision.
