LPA was entrusted with the task of providing a comprehensive lighting solution for the community hub and STEM centre at Our Lady of Assumption (OLA) primary school in Cheltenham. The project aimed to create a dynamic and inviting environment within the school’s existing spaces, turning them into a hub of learning, engagement and community interaction. LPA worked in collaboration with Smith & Tracey Architects who were responsible for space design.
A core principle of the OLA school’s learning philosophy is the promotion of extensive reading. To align with this philosophy, LPA’s lighting solution sought to create an environment encouraging curiosity, engagement and discovery. Our long-term partners Fryda Dorne & Associates worked closely with us to guide the lighting choices for this space.
Lightnet’s Ringo Star and Matric extrusions were used as focal points in the design. The direct and indirect lighting on the Ringo Star pendants opened up the space creating an ambient environment.
Utilised in the library’s seated area, the Piccolo downlights offered focused illumination for reading and studying. In the corridors and back-of-house areas, the Halo downlights provided uniform and efficient general lighting ensuring safe and well-lit passageways for the students, guests and staff.
LPA’s expertise in lighting positively impacts the aesthetics and functional aspects of the education space. The outcome delivered an environment that fosters learning, creativity and community engagement for students, teachers and the community.
