Cotton On Distribution Centre

Cotton On is one of Australia’s largest retail chains, known for its fast-fashion clothing for men, women, teenagers and children. It has almost 1,500 stores in 12 countries and employs 17,000 staff in Australia and internationally.  With a multitude of brands underneath the group banner, the requirement for a centralised distribution centre was essential for the continued growth of the brand.

The distribution centre based in the airport precinct at Avalon has been designed to improve efficiencies and speed to the customer.  With over 42 trades and 716 construction workers to complete the build of the 35,000sq m warehouse coordinating the teams was crucial. LPA was engaged to provide the warehouse and external canopy lighting for this large scale project.  To assist in this major development, our design team produced along with our standard drawings and AGi calculations, a construction issue drawing that:

  • coordinated the location of our fittings with the fire engineers sprinkler layout,
  • included the fire engineers details in our drawing to set the clearances for the electrician to comply with,
  • produced detail drawings showing suggested mounting arrangement using Unitstrut catalogue parts that would suit the roof structure and give the necessary clearances, and
  • ensured AS1680 compliance as well as the comprehensive client brief.

We are proud to be associated with the Cotton On Group and look forward to seeing the development across the Avalon site.
