Altona Civic Centre

Together with Rork Projects and AMS Electrical we have completed refurbishment works on the Altona Civic Centre community space. The centre was designed with the intention to create an agile working environment that focuses on collaboration, innovation and sustainability. This project achieved a Gold WELL Building and 5 Star Green Star certification which aligns with the Council’s and LPA’s commitment to sustainability.

We worked closely with the teams involved to produce a high quality and economical lighting solution for the council staff and the wider Hobson’s Bay community. Our team provided lighting design with UGR glare calculations and project support. Using products under our standard core range, it was important to select fittings that offered glare control and high efficiency in an office environment.

We used the Indus II panel as the main luminaire for the open offices and workstations that were aimed to encourage collaboration and communication between teams. It was selected for its low glare rating to offer visual comfort whilst the staff were working.

The lobby and main corridor of the office used tuneable linear extrusions suspended from the ceiling. By selecting them in tuneable white, we were able to provide a variation in light colour and intensity to improve productivity and engagement for work task and activities.

In the smaller meeting rooms and private hubs, we opted to go with our Mila series in a combination of surface and suspended formats. This provides a more intimate and relaxed illumination for staff working away from the wider office spaces.

With a modern and efficient lighting solution, LPA was able to transform the renewed Altona Civic Centre into a healthier, sustainable and functional work office for the Hobson Bay council and their community.
