Kooky Redhill

Kooky is a visionary development located in Surrey, offering boutique stylish apartments for rent in prime locations backed with excellent service. The development at Redhill was designed with a narrative inspired by underwater wonders. It stands out with its unique amenities including a gym and a communal co-working space designed to encourage residents to leave their apartments and “grow as a community”. LPA was engaged to meet the lighting specification provided by Studio Fox for the public areas of the Kooky Redhill development.

LPA provided the feature lighting for the public areas including the gym, the co-working space and the post rooms. We delivered a fully compliant, value-engineered lighting scheme in line with the Studio Fox specification.

The co-working space is illuminated by two 1600mm diameter annulus pendants equipped with DALI dimmable drivers. These pendants provide the desired illumination for co-working desk arrangements while maintaining a simple yet prominent presence. Adjacent areas were illuminated by concentric circles of flexible neon LED concealed at high-level by vertical chain “curtains” adding a touch of creativity and flair to the space.

The gym area is illuminated by custom RGBW tubular luminaires developed by LPA. They are arranged in a radial, circular pattern around a central column horizontally and vertically. These luminaires are complemented by linear LED channels integrated within the column cladding and in between the full-height mirrors. The commissioning of these luminaires was part of the service that LPA provided. The interior of the gym is completed by perimeter cove lighting. This combination of lighting elements creates a dynamic and energizing atmosphere, conducive to both individual and group workouts. A simple wall-mounted controller allows the client to have complete control over the luminaires within the public areas. This intuitive control system enables dimming and light colour output selections, empowering management and residents to customise their lighting experience according to their preferences.

In the post room, a circular cross-section 360-degree flexible neon LED luminaire is draped organically and viewed in stark contrast against the dark blue walls. This enhances the overall aesthetic of the space. The lighting design implemented by LPA for the Kooky Redhill development successfully enhances the ambience and functionality of the public areas. By providing customised, compliant and a value-engineered lighting solution, LPA created a unique and engaging environment fostering community growth and an enriching living experience for its residents.
