Victoria University College of Health & Biomedicine

In collaboration with Anova Electrical and Kane Construction, LPA completed a lighting outcome for the Victoria University College of Health & Biomedicine project. The two level fit-out comprises of new teaching facilities, offices and stimulated nursing laboratories to emulate a hospital environment.

As one of the most important part of health and biomedicine courses, it was important to ensure the clinical and practical learning spaces met building code compliance. Our fittings were nominated in CRI>90 and in 4000K to accurately provide the ideal visual conditions for the healthcare staff and students.

The LPA team sourced a variety of recessed profile lengths suitable for the project. They were fitted with an opal diffuser for a uniformed light distribution. Customised recessed linear profiles with mitre joints allowing a T-bar installation were installed into the ceiling providing a clean streamline result over the stairwell.

In the stimulated laboratories, we selected the Indus II panel for its low glare values and high efficacy. With lower glare values, students and staff members have better visual comfort and an improvement with academic performance.

The downlights used throughout the circulation and flexible learning spaces had an IP44 rating to prevent water splashes. We provided lux level calculations to confirm our compliance suitable to education and healthcare standards.

LPA is proud to be a part of this modern and well-balanced design for Victoria University.
